Beware the Eyes of Fellow Females

This is a tough subject to broach, but it is real and a serious issue for all
of us women.
And that is: we are our own worst enemies, or can be.

The sisterhood is a myth, mostly.
That’s right, contrary to popular belief, we are not each other’s
best friends – when it comes to men, anyway.

I know you want to throw tomatoes, rotten apples, and any other gross
thing you can find at me right now, but hear me out.

First, there is not a great abundance of men out there.
There’s also not exactly a shortage, but still, the competition is tough,
especially since it’s us women who want the coziness of relationship.
If you want a predominance of men, the counties in the United States
to go to are Chattahoochee, GA, Union County, FL, Jones
County, TX, DeKalb County, MO, and Crowley County, CO.

Chances are you’re not about to pick up and move to some unknown
place just to find a man.
So how do you cope with the competition and maintain your
treasured girlfriends?

The operative phrase is “treasured girlfriends.”
Your friends should be the most important thing to you.
No man is worth jeopardizing a long-standing, steadfast friendship.
With that said, when you embark upon your man-meeting journey,
the first thing you should do is talk to your girlfriends about it.
Get them involved from the start.
Tell them your plans.
Ask their advice.
Share your experiences – within reason, of course.
Maybe one or two will even join you in your project, and you can giggle,
commiserate, and support one another in your efforts.

The beginning stages are not where the trouble usually begins.
It’s later, when one of you begins to develop a relationship with the
opposite species and the other one doesn’t.
Let’s say you are hitting it off with this hot guy – you want to spend
more and more time with him.
Where does that leave your friend?
Not to say you shouldn’t nurture this new relationship, but there’s this
concept of cherishing the old that you need to remember.
The crux of it is, spend time with your new man, but not to the exclusion
of everyone else in your life.

It will be good for your relationship for you now to be so totally available.
Now for another aspect of the sisterhood situation: not every woman
in the world is your best friend, right?
What I’m getting at here is the competition for men can get pretty
cutthroat among women who will do anything to get a man.
And “anything” includes cutting down or otherwise hurting any perceived
threat from her own sex.
You know the type: she butts right into a conversation you’re having
with a cool guy and elbows you right out of the scene.
She is rude to you in front of a group of people, and then laughs after
saying something cruel and hurtful.
She calls your current heart throb and tells him some lie so that he cancels your next date, and the one after that, and — you get the picture.
This woman is the original Black Widow – how do you handle her?

You don’t.
It’s unfortunate, because I know you really liked that hot fellow,
but going up against her is just going to make you look bad.
She is an expert in manipulation, in making things look like they’re not,
or vice versa.
So if you go up against a Black Widow, I advise you to cut your loss and
walk away.
True, this might be a wretchedly heartbreaking alternative, but look at
it this way.
